Food deliverers waiting in public space.
As food delivery services like Deliveroo and Foodora grows, spontaneous meeting points are being formed in cities: places where the deliverers come together to wait for new orders. These self-chosen central spots could be considered a physical manifestation of the gig economy.

Using a colour tracking camera that detects the worker's uniforms, Public Waiters is an online video series automatically documenting food deliverers waiting in public space. The video series aims to expose the growing significance of these spaces, while also questioning new forms of automated labour.

Public Waiters is made by Jonas Ersland. It was his 2017 graduation project at the Design Academy Eindhoven.

The video shown is a selection of the footage collected at the Catharinaplein, Eindhoven from 22/05-17 to 25/05-17.
